For this years applicants, will there be more mechanics/ statistics in the upcoming assignments and will they perhaps focus on some STEP III content as well, or will the style still be very similar to the assignments already available on the site?

We have only recently started STEP II questions, so I doubt there will be any STEP III questions for a fair amount of time, plus I don't think there are any STEP III questions which don't require knowledge from modules which none of us (apart from independent learners) know. As for the mechanics and statistics questions I'm not too sure.

The biggest problem we have had so far is finding questions that are accessible to everyone, as people tend to do modules in different orders, some doing C1 to C4 in year 12 and others doing C1, C2 and FP1. We made a rash assumption in an early assignment that everyone would have met integration of simple polynomials, and have been trying to avoid more false assumptions.
We have been trying to use more STEP II questions (and there has been a statistics question!). There are still lots of interesting STEP II questions we can use.
We do hope to include some STEP III questions in the fullness of time, but do please remember that this course is not just for Cambridge entrants (who will probably be the only ones who need STEP III).
Expect the assignments to continue in the current way for a while yet, certainly until after we have established the new students. However, we will definitely be reassessing what we do after Christmas (once you have applied to university and got some offers).
