STEP III Prep

Forums:

Hello, I've been fortunate enough to be given a conditional offer to study maths at Cambridge. I was given the standard condition which requires a I in STEP III, however my school doesn't teach modules such as FP3, M3 and S3 etc.. Are there any additional key topics within those modules which I should definitely go over?

Many thanks!

New Assignments

Forums:

I'm loving the new assignments that are allowing me to learn new topics at A Level such as the vertical circular motion and PDFs and I was wondering if, with the assignments after each (more aimed at applied here) question you could recommend 2-3 other questions on the same topic so we can practise it a little more in STEP formatting?

Thank you

STEP Marking

Forums:

I was wondering if, when our assignments are being marked, that we could receive a mark out of 20 for the STEP question on that assignment to give us an idea of how we are doing/ how our mistakes would be penalised in the real thing?

LaTeX?

Forums:

I was wondering if we could implement LaTeX coding for the forum, if it is possible and not too much work? I use it a lot when posting problems and solutions on Brilliant.org and thought it would be a good idea to have it here too, as it comes in really handy in my experience - it makes posts easier to read.

Personal Statements and this course

Forums:

Are we allowed to mention the fact that we are part of this correspondence course in our personal statement

I'm only asking this because I seem to remember something like "the correspondence course will not be taken into account when applying to Cambridge"

so I don't really want it to be detrimental to my application

Catchup

Forums:

So when I first signed up onto STEP I had low expectations of myself and was not expecting to be able to get in to Oxbridge. However, after receiving my results and seeing they were straight As and thinking more deeply about my university choices, I have decided to set it upon myself to try my best of getting into Oxbridge as I think I now stand a fair chance. I have been fairly passive with the STEP assignments and have had a fair crack at them every now and then and had a look at the post-mortems.
